James Deters is a registered Building Surveyor - Unrestricted with over 20 years’ experience in the industry,
 
 James has worked for both Local Government and in private consultancy, and is the founding Director of Credwell Consulting, a building regulation consultancy offering specialist assessment services to ensure statutory compliance with building regulations and the National Construction Code 

 James provides proactive expert advice and partners with clients to ensure the best results while still achieving compliance.  James relishes the opportunity to teach and mentor up and coming Building Surveyors and as the Chair of the AAC Annual Conference Committee, encourages growth and professional development for success and helps to create a sustainable industry to ensure safe and trustworthy buildings.

Kellie Woods – Committee Co-Chair

Director, Pro Cert Group


During Kellie’s career in the industry she has worked in both Local Government and in private industry and has worked with a range of different professionals such as state government officers, town planners, architects, structural and civil engineers and project managers as well as having dealt on a regular basis with numerous stakeholders within the industry.
 
Kellie is familiar with the needs and constraints of the building and construction industry and is able to work with the construction schedule and deliver upon consultation, certification and inspection deadlines.
 
 Qualifications:
·         Bachelor of Environmental Science (Management), University of Newcastle.
·         Graduate Diploma in Building, University of Western Sydney

Dean Dehghan-Khalaji

Operations Manager & Engineer, Subdivision Certifiers


With over 15 years of experience in the civil engineering industry spanning across various disciplines from engineering design, water quality and quantity management, and development engineering. He completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from University of Western Sydney in 2009 , and since gained extensive experience in greenfield subdivisions from large to small, and all types of infill development in the residential, industrial, and commercial space, and been responsible for ensuring the delivery of roads, drainage and public infrastructure and assets of major and state significant developments for Local Government. 

A year and a half ago, he embarked on a new chapter with Subdivision Certifiers, where he has further enriched his expertise in subdivision and strata certification. This role has offered him the unique opportunity to delve into the private sector's certification process, a journey that is both rewarding and enlightening. He is on the path to obtaining certification for subdivision, strata, road and drainage, and stormwater, which represents a significant milestone in my professional development.

He is passionate about leveraging his extensive experience to contribute to sustainable and innovative certification industry.

James McNeill

Building Surveyor, bm+g


Hailing from Tasmania, James enjoys rugby and his skills and passion saw him play semi-professional rugby union in the Netherlands in 2019.  Upon returning to Australia, James worked as an onsite labourer before starting University and discovering the world of Building Surveying. 
 
He then made the decision to actively pursue a career path as a Building Surveyor and joined Blackett Maguire + Goldsmith as a Cadet in 2020. James has since been steadily extending his professional experience to achieve his goal of becoming a practising Unrestricted (A1) Registered Certifier in 2023.
 
James has had carriage of certifying significant projects such as Nepean Hospital (14 Storey Hospital including clinical and Ambulatory Services, Helipad), as well as Social and Affordable Housing in Liverpool, Fairfield, and Mount Druitt areas. James found this project particularly rewarding as the housing provided those in need with clean, tidy and relatively upmarket accommodation.

Paul O'Brien

Manager City Development, Wagga Wagga City Council


Paul is the Manager Development Assessment & Building Certification for Wagga City Council.
 
With more than twenty-seven years in local government, he is an experienced Manager with a demonstrated history of working in local government planning (strategic and statutory), environmental compliance, environmental services, urban planning, environmental impact assessment.

He administers the statutory planning functions of New South Wales largest inland regional city, as well as holding accreditation as a Building Surveyor – Unrestricted.
